BIO

Rebecca Simons is an independent photography curator, editor, educator and visual artist.

Currently Rebecca works as a photo editor at Dutch daily de Volkskrant, teaches photography at Willem de Kooning Academy and through international workshops.

 

In 2016, together with Viewbook, she launched the research and publication project Transformations, exploring changes in photography. She is also the initiator of the European program El-Art, supporting entrepreneurial learning for artists. She is a regular portfolio reviewer at festivals and nominator for several talent programs.

 

From 2009-2016 Rebecca worked as Senior Producer & Interim manager at World Press Photo’s education department where she was responsible for all books, exhibitions and online productions.

Rebecca also develops personal art projects such as the recent multimedia project Letters From The Past,  tackling the theme of sexual abuse within the family.  

In 2004 she got her MFA in photography at Post-St. Joost, Avans University, Breda and in 2012 her MA at Film and Photographic Studies, Leiden University.
